Whenever Highway 330 was off limits, drivers could find their way to
the Running Springs area on Highway 18 and Highway 38.However, Highway
330 provides the most direct route to Running Springs from the San
Bernardino Valley.
The highway closure "makes us really stuck on the mountains," Keay
said.
"It really hurts business up here, too, because people have to go
all the way around, and people get frustrated."
Some people may not know alternate routes are Advertisementavailable, said Sue
Battiste, manager of the Captain's Anchorage restaurant in Big Bear
Lake.
"It always makes an impact.
People think they can't get up here if
it's closed," Battiste said.
Bear Mountain Resorts spokesman Marty Ward also acknowledged business
would have been better if Highway 330 had not been subject to closures.
